Blessings or Childship?

"There are many secondary aspects of God's will that are good, right, and scriptural elements of spirituality with which we should be concerned... But what is God's primary will for his people?" Michael Phillips

What Do You See?

What do you and I see when we look at someone? Do we see them with God-eyes or do we, like Simon the Pharisee, not only miss seeing them as God sees them but perceive ourselves with equal error?

Light

In characteristic manner, George MacDonald looks deeply into John's declaration that "God is light" and finds within the simple words infinite treasure.

Lessons At Sea

Like many of the events recorded for us in the Gospel records, Matthew's recounting of Peter's walking on water with the Lord provides a wealth of insight into the Person of Jesus Christ and our relationship to God through him.

John 17: Jesus’ Prayer For His Disciples - Both Past and Future

It seems good to me that, every now and then, we should hear words to us coming from our Elder Brother, Savior and Lord, Jesus, who is the Christ. After all, he is the incarnate good news of the gospel!

The following passage is the 17th chapter of the book of John in the New Testament, JB Phillips translation.

Disappointment

If you've never found yourself disappointed in God, hang on! Sooner or later--days, weeks, months, maybe years--it's going to be your turn. And if you don't think it can happen to you than you've forgotten that the student is not above his Master.

It Shall Not Be Forgiven - Part 4

The fourth and final part of a series that explores how George MacDonald viewed Jesus' words on forgiveness, and, espcially that of blasphemy against the Holy Spirit. Key to our understanding is that of grasping both what Divine forgiveness means and what such blasphemy against the Spirit entails. Only when we have brought into harmony these two elements together with the love of God as found in Jesus do we begin to see that, far from a cold juridical condemnation of those guilty of a great wrong, Jesus’ words express a loving truth full of Father’s compassion and meant for our good.

It Shall Not Be Forgiven - Part 1

Efforts have been made in an attempt to understand what Jesus meant when he said that blasphemy against the Holy Spirit would not be forgiven. The gravity of such an utterance by the Lord begs the most serious inquiry!

Over the next four days I will be sharing George MacDonald’s thoughts on this very passage. May it prove an encouraging blessing to all who listen and hear!
