C.S. Lewis - The Reality Of The Law

Mere Christianity — Right And Wrong As a Clue To The Meaning Of the Universe (Part 3)

We are now entering part three of our five-part journey of exploration into Christian thought as laid out so compellingly by C.S. Lewis in a portion of his book, Mere Christianity. These five segments walk us along a path of unerring logic with each episode building on the previous, culminating in what Lewis titled We Have Cause to Be Uneasy.

Anyone familiar with Lewis’ writings cannot help but appreciate how well he makes his arguments through readily grasped illustrations that intrigue and add weight to his claims. Though these illustrations come from a time in England long past and can, at times, seem outdated to our ears the disadvantage is slight and hardly detracts from their impact.

What you are about to hear in The Reality Of The Law builds on the previous episode, Some Objections.

C.S. Lewis - Some Objections

Mere Christianity — Right And Wrong As a Clue To The Meaning Of the Universe (Part 2)

We are now entering part two of our five-part journey of exploration into Christian thought as laid out so compellingly by C.S.

What you are about to hear now in Some Objections serves as a follow up to the previous episode concerning The Law of Human Nature, with Lewis answering some questions that had been put to him.

C.S. Lewis - The Law of Human Nature

Mere Christianity — Right And Wrong As a Clue To The Meaning Of the Universe

I would like to take you on another five-part journey of exploration into Christian thought as laid out so compellingly by C.S. Lewis in a portion of his book, Mere Christianity. As was the case when we looked at What Christians Believe several weeks ago, these five segments walk us along a path of unerring logic. Each episode builds on the previous culminating in what Lewis titled We Have Cause to Be Uneasy. I intend to publish an episode each Wednesday over the next five weeks.

What you are about to hear now in The Law of Human Nature sets us on our way. If we come listening with an open mind and heart I believe these writings will have positive impact.

Blessings or Childship?

"There are many secondary aspects of God's will that are good, right, and scriptural elements of spirituality with which we should be concerned... But what is God's primary will for his people?" Michael Phillips

What Do You See?

What do you and I see when we look at someone? Do we see them with God-eyes or do we, like Simon the Pharisee, not only miss seeing them as God sees them but perceive ourselves with equal error?

Light

In characteristic manner, George MacDonald looks deeply into John's declaration that "God is light" and finds within the simple words infinite treasure.

Lessons At Sea

Like many of the events recorded for us in the Gospel records, Matthew's recounting of Peter's walking on water with the Lord provides a wealth of insight into the Person of Jesus Christ and our relationship to God through him.

John 17: Jesus’ Prayer For His Disciples - Both Past and Future

It seems good to me that, every now and then, we should hear words to us coming from our Elder Brother, Savior and Lord, Jesus, who is the Christ. After all, he is the incarnate good news of the gospel!

The following passage is the 17th chapter of the book of John in the New Testament, JB Phillips translation.

Disappointment

If you've never found yourself disappointed in God, hang on! Sooner or later--days, weeks, months, maybe years--it's going to be your turn. And if you don't think it can happen to you than you've forgotten that the student is not above his Master.

It Shall Not Be Forgiven - Part 4

The fourth and final part of a series that explores how George MacDonald viewed Jesus' words on forgiveness, and, espcially that of blasphemy against the Holy Spirit. Key to our understanding is that of grasping both what Divine forgiveness means and what such blasphemy against the Spirit entails. Only when we have brought into harmony these two elements together with the love of God as found in Jesus do we begin to see that, far from a cold juridical condemnation of those guilty of a great wrong, Jesus’ words express a loving truth full of Father’s compassion and meant for our good.
